more gently than she wanted to

Yesterday was up to 188; precisely one page today, on grounds of General Principle.
Upside of being out much of the day at doctor's/dentist's appointments: I get a lot of reading done. By the Mountain Bound, specifically, which made me want to go read All the Wind-Wracked Stars again. I'd read it quite differently now, I think.
Also, I went to see Metropolis, some newly-expanded version with recovered 16mm film (it was scratchy and smaller, but an interesting contrast et cetera). I hadn't seen the movie before. It was long (and I'm hazy on what happened in some bits), but I was suitably impressed with their ability and planning to create an SF city on film in 1927. Some of their tricks were awesome. (I also don't watch many silent films. The bit where they show characters talking, and you can get an idea just from body language/figuring out part of what they're saying? Nifty.)
...strangest thing was seeing vaguely familiar things and realizing that this was, well, probably the original. Weird. But cool.
Anyway, I'm glad I went. It was the last night in its run here, and it's one of those classic things that you kind of figure you have to see. But it means I have energy for a token effort only on the novel, which I have made, so now I shall go to bed and write more tomorrow.
