It was called "Changeling", I think? It's in The Essential Bordertown. I had been questioning my sexuality for a while and had reached the point where I knew what my feelings were but I didn't know if feeling that way was what people meant by being gay, and then that story came along and mirrored all my feelings back at me and told me yes, yes that was. And I went Oh. I think it was the first time that I'd read someone writing the inner emotional life of a not-straight person, and it was a goddamn revelation.
(So do I, rather, even though some of the anthologies came out before I was born and I didn't read them until I was a teenager. The new anthology was so weird to read for me--being part of the generation aimed at by the timeskip, but not being new to Bordertown.)
