It seems that Chicago-and-points-West trains are nicer than trains out East, too--I heard from someone that it's because the new train cars don't fit under the overpasses in the East, which were built longer ago. I didn't venture into the dining car in the Chicago-to-Minneapolis train, though, since it wasn't a very long ride. So I can't really compare.
I enjoy my trains. I figure I'd better do a bunch of train travel now, since I might not want to sleep on trains when I get to be of A Certain Age (I don't know what that age is, but I'll probably know it when I get there).
